As Fame II revision came into effect from June 1st that reduces the previous subsidy of up to Rs. 55,000 down to Rs. 22,485, Ather has introduced a cheaper Ather 450S model.
It offers the same 90km/h speed as the 450X and the 450 Plus, but the Certified Range / ARAI range goes down from 146 km to 115 km per single charge.
The company did not reveal the battery capacity or the On-Road Range for the model. The design however looks similar to the 450X. Ather says that 450S offers an alternative to 125 cc performance petrol scooters.
The Ather 450S will start at Rs. 1,29,999 (Including Fame II subsidy after revision, and varies depending on the city, based on the state subsidy), compared to the 450X (with Pro pack), which now starts at Rs. 1,65,435 in Bengaluru, an increase of around Rs. 8,000.
This is not huge since the price increase should have been Rs. 32,515 after a reduction in subsidy. Ather is absorbing a huge chunk of this price impact for its customers with a view to quickening EV adoption, said Ather Energy Chief Business Officer Ravneet S Phokela.
Availability
The Ather 450S pre-orders will start in July, and deliveries will begin in August. Before that, Ather will reveal more details about the new model, including the complete specifications.
